Press Statement
The Coronavirus pandemic which continues to claim the lives of many people globally has also led to the suspension of most economic activities, devastating people’s means of livelihood. It has also led to the closure of learning institutions which has resulted into another crisis in Kenya; a surge in school girl pregnancies. Data on teenage pregnancies was released recently that shows about 152,820 school girls across the country became pregnant since the closure of schools. Although the government has dismissed the figures terming them as obnoxious, the fact still remains that sexual acts are among the evils rampant in secular society.
With a high concern, Hizb ut Tahrir / Kenya is launching a massive campaign under the theme: “Every One of Us is a Shepherd” starting 25th August 2020 until 31st December 2020.
A series of events during the campaign will include public talks in Mosques, street walks and live debates, among others. The main topics of discussion being how Capitalism and its flawed creed of secularism has attributed not only to a social crisis but all crises in every aspect of life. The Ummah that include the parents and guardians will be reminded of their responsibility to protect their children from Western cultural invasion by ensuring that they establish the Islamic Identity in their children.
We urge the public to join us in this campaign as it is part of the noble task of enjoining the Maa’ruf (good) and forbidding the Munkar (evil).
