{"id":3673,"date":"2024-05-01T04:15:10","date_gmt":"2024-05-01T04:15:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hizbke.org\/en\/?p=3673"},"modified":"2024-05-15T04:24:37","modified_gmt":"2024-05-15T04:24:37","slug":"floods-havoc-exposing-the-criminal-negligence-of-capitalism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hizbke.org\/en\/floods-havoc-exposing-the-criminal-negligence-of-capitalism\/","title":{"rendered":"Floods Havoc: Exposing the Criminal Negligence of Capitalism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>News&amp;Comments<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Starting 18 April 2024, floods hit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kenya\">Kenya<\/a>, affecting people in 21 of the 47 counties.\u00a0The capital city of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nairobi\">Nairobi<\/a>\u00a0and surrounding areas were particularly affected.\u00a0The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nairobi_River\">Nairobi River<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Athi_River_(town)\">Athi River<\/a>\u00a0both burst their banks displacing 40,000 people.\u00a0Over 130,000 are displaced, 91 missing, 29 injured, and 169 have been reported as dead.\u00a0The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_Nations_Office_for_the_Coordination_of_Humanitarian_Affairs\">UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid<\/a>\u00a0also reported at least 960 livestock and 24 thousand acres of farmland were flooded.\u00a0The flooding was strengthened in part due to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/El_Nino\">El Ni\u00f1o<\/a>. In the morning hours of Monday, 29 April 2024, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2024_Kenya_dam_failure\">dam burst<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mai_Mahiu\">Mai Mahiu<\/a>, killing an additional 42 people.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Comment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is regrettable once again that lives have been lost and properties worth billions reduced to monuments of shame. The truth of the matter, urban\u00a0flooding\u00a0has ever become a burden of the poor, especially for the slum dwellers.<\/p>\n<p>What the country is going through right now is what happens when the leadership fails to plan. The continuing tragedy of the floods illustrates the total negligence of not only leadership but the entire democratic political system that has a record on criminal negligence. It is negligence of the highest order for the Government to wait for tragedies to occur then at the peak of disaster seen counting the losses!<\/p>\n<p>Looking at the damage occurring across the country the problem is a dire lack of proper infrastructure. With rampant corruption, road patches that never prevent anything are done on a daily basis where in case of drizzles, such roads turn into impassable rivers! \u00a0With greedy capitalist mindset both national and county government\u2019s leaders have been giving permits for construction of houses and buildings on riparian and riverine zones.<\/p>\n<p>The flooding and other natural disasters are continually exposing the capitalist regime\u2019s perpetual cycle of mismanagement and complete disregard for their own citizens. This deplorable situation could have not reached into this level if the government was responsible as it would have taken early measures.<\/p>\n<p>Islam as an ideology and complete way of life defines the responsibility of taking care of the public affairs is primarily upon to the government. The Prophet (saw) said:\u00a0<strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0627\u0644\u0625\u0650\u0645\u064e\u0627\u0645\u064f \u0631\u064e\u0627\u0639\u064d \u0648\u064e\u0647\u064f\u0648\u064e \u0645\u064e\u0633\u0652\u0626\u064f\u0648\u0644\u064c \u0639\u064e\u0646\u0652 \u0631\u064e\u0639\u0650\u064a\u0651\u064e\u062a\u0650\u0647\u0650<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u201cThe leader of people is a shepherded and is responsible for his citizens.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kenya and the world at large need a profound \u00a0system \u00a0i.e. Islam that produces and nurtures leaders who\u00a0 fear the Allah SWT and feel the sense of responsibility as they always know that \u00a0they will be held accountable in the Day of Judgment.
