Press Release
The abduction of Mombasa-based blogger Bruce John, who was also sodomised by a group of men has sparked public outcry in the Coastal City of Mombasa and Kenya at large. The call for justice has been the echo, as friends, family, and human rights activists rally in support of the young blogger. We in Hizb ut Tahrir / Kenya would like to mention the following:
It is of a great concern that the decadence and immoral behavior has reached the level of an alarming rate on a global scale. Secular-liberal values have shaped the general public in adapting immoral tactics such as abuse and libel as tools for expressing political resentments.
Globally, it is an established fact that rape and sodomy have become a political and military tool to subdue political resentments. However this should remind humanity in general and the Muslim Ummah in particular the moral and ethical bankruptcy of the secular creed that is void of objective molarity and values. Unlike Islam, Secularism derives its moral values from a utilitarianism philosophy that advocates actions that foster happiness or pleasure and oppose actions that cause unhappiness or harm when directed toward making social, economic, or political decisions. The humanity under immoral capitalist society has become worse than beasts as stated in the Quran: ﴿ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَاهُ أَسْفَلَ سَافِلِينَ﴾ “But We will reduce them to the lowest of the low” [TMQ At-Tiin: 05].
For more than 13 centuries, Islam from the establishment of the State in Madinah to its destruction by the Colonial West in 1924, humanity had high moral-ethical standards. This was manifested based on the Islamic creed which protects and nurtures objective values thus guaranteeing the success in all spheres of life. It is apparent, Islam is the need of time more than ever in history to elevate society objective morality. Allah (swt) says: ﴿وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِي آدَمَ وَحَمَلْنَاهُمْ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ وَرَزَقْنَاهُم مِّنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَفَضَّلْنَاهُمْ عَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقْنَا تَفْضِيلاً﴾ “Indeed, We have honored the children of Adam, carried them on land and sea, granted them good and lawful provisions, and privileged them far above many of Our creatures.” [TMQ Al-Isra’a: 70].
